Our Childhood Cottage
When I was young we lived in the country surrounded by cornfields, cows, apple orchards and grassy fields. The house wasn't a big house but it was good enough for us. On the one side of the yard my dad grew grapes, strawberries, pears trees , apple and cherry trees.
He also had a a beautiful garden and grew corn, onions, cabbage, tomatoes, spinach, other vegetables and herbs. But just along the side of our house were a group of trees that bent over and grew together making a canopy and a rainproof roof over our heads. The cave like atmoshpere was the place to air our secrets.
It was a place where we could hide, talk and play. We talked about the things we would do when we grew up and pretended to be cooking, cleaning and that our dolls and toys were alive. It was also a place where we felt like noone could see or hear us. But somehow my mother always seem to find us where others walked by and never noticed us. At least it seemed they didn't.
Noone was to enter our dream house and we played in there for hours even in the pouring rain. We never got wet except when running back to the house when our mother called us in for dinner.
We thought it would be there forever. Forever is a long time and it wasn't long before we played there less and less. We played in there for about five years untill we got too tall and bored.

Neat And Tidy Cottage
The
Neat And Tidy Cottage goes beyond the kind of toys we dreamed of when we were kids. Our cottage was a bit different but I'm sure the kids use their imaginations and mimic their mom and dad just like we did when we were kids.
Back then a lot of our toys didn't require much assembly or batteries to do any of their functions. Our arms and hands were doing the work of batteries.
The cottage needs 2 "AAA" batteries for the doorbell and 2 "AA"for the phone to ring and chime. The batteries are not included in the box. Remember to buy them so that all parts of the toy can function and so you don't see any sad faces. Kids don't always understand what it means when say you have to wait until I get the...............
Unlike our canopy of trees it can't say "assembled by nature"(It does require some assembly.) it is not made out of wood but instead its made of a durable plastic material. This plastic material is used to create its molded-in floors with drain holes (to drain out water and dirt).
It has a faucet, burners and seats just like a "real" home which are made from the same material as the floors. Its wood and stone detailing with shuttered windows create a realistic look and similar to many of todays homes it has an open concept as the windows on all side gives you a clear view of whatever is outside. The construction is weatherproof and designed to last many years just as our wood canopy did.
This Neat And Tidy Cottage Includes Other Home Like Features:
- A Dutch door
- A mailbox
- Shutters
- A pass-through mailbox
- A molded-in kitchen table
It measures 46 1/2"H x 51"W x 35"D and weighs over 50 lbs. It is recommended for ages 18 months and up.The cottage needs 2 "AAA" batteries for the doorbell and 2 "AA"for the phone to ring and chime. Unlike our little dream house this cottage does have a warranty of one year.
That canopy was our "Cottage" back then. It is long gone and so are the garden, trees, fields, cows and corn. But our memories of such a free , fun time may fade a little but are not forgotten. Will your kids remember the
Neat and Tidy Cottage? I hope so.
